Snow --- helping me get ready for MARCH CLASSES!

Hi, Stampers!

We have a LOT of snow! And since we are snowed in (no plow in sight) I've been able to work a little on my March 'Stamping With Tonja' Classes----in between 'directing' hubby and kids as to various activities they could do to keep themselves busy and out of trouble. :)  :) We may end up painting a few rooms!!!!  :)

Here are a couple of the projects we'll make in my March Technique Class -- the technique is THUMPING! This class will be on Thursday, March 11th - one class at 9:30am and another at 7pm. Space is limited to six in each class. We'll make a total of three projects using the THUMPING technique. Please RSVP the class fee of $10 by March 8th to reserve your spot! (This may be used as a free class for my Stamp Club members.) You can also RSVP here on the right side of my blog and drop a check in the mail. :) (Paypal button coming soon)

How Cute -- Stamped for Baby

Hi, Stampers!

I had a WONDERFUL Holiday Open House on Saturday --- THANKS so all of you that made the time to stop by! Now, I'm crazy busy again getting ready for my Church's Christmas Bazaar this coming Saturday!

In addition to items for my table, I'm making something for the Silent Auction -- a set of these adorable onesies -- here's my first one to show you -- They will look even more cute when they are in an adorable package. :) This idea came from a blog post last summer by Jill Hilliard. This stamp set is retired, but I may have to keep it now! I stamped the material with craft ink and then heat set it with an iron.

Changing color of your fonts

Hey, Stampers!

I know, I know....where's my Thursday and Friday post? Why am I posting on Saturday?

I've been making my sister's wedding invites and I haven't really been stamping anything else. I thought I'd get them all in the mail before I post a photo. :) The actual part of putting all of the inserts together with the invitation, addressing envelopes, adding the ribbon at the end, etc. is more time comsuming that I thought. Hopefully, this weekend will see all of them going to the post office.

I have learned a couple of great paper crafting techniques from this 'adventure'. One of these tips I picked up from one of my wonderful stampers, (Cheryl R.) which is to EXACT color match everything that you print out on the computer with the appropriate Stampin' UP! colors. How do you do this?

Let's say I was using Bravo Burgundy for the 'shell' of my invite and I want the inside printed in the same color. I go to StampMonkeys and she has the codes right there for you to use. Find the color you need and jot down the codes. Then when you go to your word processor, change the COLOR of the FONT by clicking on (this is in WORD, if you use something else, it may be a little different) 'more colors', then 'custom' and then enter the values given at StampMonkeys for the color you want!

Heat Embossing

Hey, Stampers!

Last month during my Technique Class, we focused on Heat Embossing. This is one of my favorite techniques, especially around the Holidays because it makes everything look SO NICE and it also makes projects look like you spent A LOT of time on them! :)

Here are step by step directions for embossing -- found on the Stampin' UP! home page (wonderful resource!).

Technique A:  Heat Embossing

1]   Place your card stock in a Powder Pal tray or over a large piece of scratch paper.

2]   Rub the Embossing Buddy across the card stock you want to emboss. This keeps the embossing powder from sticking anywhere but on the ink. 

3]   Stamp the image with Craft, VersaMark, or embossing ink.

4]   Pour powder onto the inked image, making sure that the image is coated completely. 

5]   Shake off excess powder into the tray and funnel it back into the container.

6]   Heat the stamped image only until the powder changes to a shiny liquid and rises.

7]   Allow embossed image to cool. 

Technique B:  Emboss Resist

1]   Follow steps 1-7 above, using Stampin' Emboss clear embossing powder.

2]   Apply ink with a sponge directly to the paper over and around the embossed image.

3]   Wipe the embossed image with a tissue to remove the excess ink.
